Director Operations
Within this role you are responsible for all activities that are part of Manufacturing, Manufacturing Technology Support, Technical Services and Warehouse. You will ensure that all commercial - , CMO - and clinical products are manufactured on time and in line with the defined planning. In addition, products that are delivered and all related activities should be in line with the applicable laws and regulations, the (international) quality standards and budget/cost objectives.

As a Director of Operations directly you will support the Chief Operations Officer to effectively manage operations at HAL Allergy. Meanwhile, you will assist with cross functional coordination and act as requested on behalf of the COO (when absent).
Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership, coaching, training, and guidance to your operational teams so they are enabled in reaching their performance goals;
  • Provide daily management and oversight  for all manufacturing operations, including engineering, qualification and maintenance at the HAL Allergy plant. If required, you will coordinate corrective actions and/or implementation of proactive improvements.
  • Ensure that the production forecast is achieved. Continuously strive to efficiently improve production and the cost of goods.
  • Maintain and report on applicable department - and delivery metrics;
  • Translate the value chain from R&D and Quality into an operational planning and - execution. You should be able to actively display your existing industry - and technological knowledge while interacting with the different stakeholders.
  • Responsible for the successful coordination and execution of new product launches in the markets.
  • Identify capital expenditures and manage that infrastructural projects are executed within time and budget.
  • Supervise (technology transfer) projects and meeting deliverables in the milestone planning.
  • Ensure an effective utilization of resources including a consistent performance management by defining SMART department/individual goals and key performance indicators, robust employee development and routine rewards - and recognitions practices, all in line with the HAL Allergy  policies.
  • Ensure high-quality of the work performed by the team and make sure that processes are compliant with the company’s SOPs as well as with applicable laws and regulatory guidelines (e.g. EMA and FDA).
  • Drive continuous improvement and an Operational Excellence culture through self-detecting and self-correcting processes and systems and instilling strong ownership and accountability.
  • Develop and maintain training programs.
  • Ensure the safety of assigned areas and work practices in accordance with plant and company SHE programs.
  • Academic degree (MBA, MSc) within Life Sciences or a related field.
  • At least 7 years of relevant experience within a pharmaceutical  production environment (in the field of Biotechnology, Downstream Processing & Drug Product Manufacturing).
  • Demonstrated leadership experience of at least 3 years with managing multi-layered teams (e.g. including indirect supervision).
  • Solid understanding and knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements and GMP quality directives is critical.
  • Experience with manufacturing and working under FDA directives is required;
  • Experience with working under “Process Excellence” is required;  
  • Fluency in English and Dutch is a prerequisite, German is preferred.
